Yandex says to re-focus maps to natural features from state borders

MOSCOW, Jun 9 (PRIME) -- Yandex Maps, part of the ecosystem of Russian Internet company Yandex, will concentrate on physical geographic images on its maps with a focus on natural objects rather than state borders, a Yandex spokesperson told PRIME on Thursday.

“The map will become physical and geographical soon on the survey scale where the service is not used in its main scenarios. The focus will be made on natural objects, not on state borders,” the spokesperson said.

“Our goal is to reflect the world around us. This is why the map will show mountains, rivers, the lines of the Arctic circles, and other data typical of this type of maps. The changes will appear gradually.”
